Tax Software. QuickBooks Pro w/Enhanced Payroll 2011

Tax Software. I have used and shopped the competitors and settled on Quickbooks/Payroll this time. I have not used QuickBooks before. It's been too easy. Accounting software is the last thing I want to be concerned about. I'm happy so far.

Update #1 ... Day 3 - Wonderful! Transactions are loading as I write. Compared to past Peachtree & Quicken experiences, Quick2011 can't be made simpler or more intuitive. I have all 3 seats and server operating. If it took an hour to get everything running, I'd be surprised. There's a curiously intuitive network sensor/linkage algorithm in there somewhere that makes bundling multi computers a cinch. No need for an IT guy. It surely ranks highest on my list of the easiest network installs ever. The software is better than advertised IMHO.

Tax Software. Quicken Legal Business Pro 2011

Tax Software. I don't know if I would necessarily start a corporation with 250 employees with this software, but for most people, this software library will go a long way towards officially documenting their life's little legal affairs. Everything from buying a car to starting a small business, to even buying your own home (without an agent) can be accomplished with this software.

For those of you doing any of the above mentioned activities, this set should be perfect (for banks and IRS). For those looking to deal in large sums of money or complicated affairs - you are already talking to a lawyer anyway ... for those of us looking for a nice set of everyday legal forms and for those staring a business - this is a great and indispensable software set to get to up and running (looking very professional I might add).

Tax Software. The product, if run on a single machine, works as expected.

If you attempt to run this product in a networked environment, expect to run into severe difficulties.

Additionally, expect to run into problems if you are running the latest Microsoft based operating systems, such as Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Sage will only offer you one support phone call during installation, afterwards, you'll have to pay for support. On-line forum and community support for serious technical IT questions will be ignored.

Overall a bad experience as this product has cost me dearly in time and effort.

Tax Software. QuickBooks 2011 for Mac

Tax Software. I owned Quickbooks 2007 for Mac and have used it for years. I am a registered user with Intuit. For the past few months, I got a message that I needed to register the product and that it would be good for only 30 days. This made no sense since I was a registered user and the "register online" option did not work. Finally, one day while I was working, I quit the application and tried to relaunch it. The message came up and would not launch. I called Intuit to help with the registration. I got a tech support in India who had passible English. He confirmed that the product was registered. He asked what system I was using. I was up to date with 10.6.4. He said that was the problem since Quickbooks 2007 was not being supported in 10.6, but only with 10.4 and 10.5. and would not work. I told him that it does work in 10.6 and I have been successful with it for months since upgrading to 10.6. He clarified that it would work only 15 times in 10.6 before the registration would not work. I found this to be incredible. This means that Intuit has written script to make the software not work after 15 times with the newer operating system. In some ways this seems illegal to me. It is one thing to say software is not supported with newer systems, it is another to purposefully make it not work when, in fact, it does work. I use Quickbooks basically as an accounting program and not for creating tax returns. As such, I don't need the most recent version. The tech person further stated that I had to buy the 2011 version and that it, too, would not work after 2014. Again, I'm flabbergasted. Intuit is purposefully making their software not work after a specific period of time. I am livid. I bought the newer version since I had to complete records for a number of clients but felt I was being forced to buy something I did not need due to planned obsolescence.

In general, 2011 seems identical to 2007. I don't need the newer features. I did notice that during reconciliation that often the program added incorrectly.

Has anyone else had these same problems?

Tax Software. For many years I have been a Microsoft Money user and have been extremely happy with it, but now since they are becoming obsolete, I had to make a change. New to Quicken, it was very easy to move all my files over. No problem whatsoever. I do banking with several different banks and several different accounts in each one, but have not had any problem connecting with them. At first I thought that it wouldn't send my bill payments out and was going to return the program to Amazon and upgrade from the Starter edition, however, I found that the software worked just fine in doing that job for me. So, it really does all that I need it to do for me. Do have a small problem with my regular checking acct in that one entry is missing and I can't find it yet so the online balance and my balance are a few dollars off. If worse comes to worse, I'll just make an adjustment somewhere to straighten it out so I won't get myself all in a tither over it..... Oh, I also have tried Mint.com, which is free and pretty good, but this Quicken is better for me.

Tax Software. I bought this based upon the positive reviews from the beta testers for this version of Quicken. Yes, it's a bit faster and yes, quite a few bugs have been fixed (the reporting interface in particular is much more stable now). With that, it took me only a few minutes to encounter a bug and significant features remain lacking. For example, Mint.com has zero integration. Literally, none. So lets see, you turned off my Quicken.com because you bought Mint.com but Mint.com has no interface within the product. Bummer for me as a customer...

I suspect as with many other pieces of software, Quicken is running on a very old code base and it continues to show. A few features or performance enhancements continue to be added each year, but nothing very big and generally nothing worth anywhere near the cost of upgrading. I was hoping for a lot more from this upgrade. I got better stability and a handful of new features.

Tax Software. Sage Peachtree Complete Accounting 2011

Tax Software. I've been using various versions of this software since 1999 and generally upgrade every 2 or 3 years. I hadn't planned an upgrade but did so to better accommodate an upgrade from XP Win 7 (Win 7 is worth the trouble and expense!) When the disk arrived, it was cracked (shipping problem, not Peachtree.) I had next to no trouble getting them to give me a link to a download so I could use the product without waiting for a new disk. I had no trouble with the download and no problem moving files from Peachtree Complete 2008. I moved four companies and everything works very well. The employees (two) were easy to understand and registration was a snap. A MAJOR benefit to me is being able to keep multiple companies open at the same time. As usual, the best price and service were at Amazon. This review sounds like it was written by an employee but it wasn't--it's just a bullet-proof product that performs very well and performs flawlessly with Win 7--worth the price.

Tax Software. This purchase was a huge disappointment. The software is new and there were only nine reviews, but they were all extremely positive, so I felt confident taking the plunge. I was so excited in fact, that I paid a premium to download rather than wait for UPS. In retrospect, I should have paid more attention to the eerie similarity between the reviews, and in fact they were all from beta testers (shills?) perhaps working off the same talking points. The new version was supposed to run faster and work with twice the number of financial institutions. But this is not what I experienced. I was fairly content with Home and Business 2008. The only reason I downloaded 2011 is because I want to access certain accounts that 2008 cannot, such as my 401K with ADP, my kids 529's with New York State, and a savings/loan account with Sallie Mae. Turns out none of these accounts are accessible with 2011! It was a complete waste and it actually runs slower than 2008. Don't be snookered like me, save your money.

Tax Software. I have been a loyal user of Quicken since 1994 and upgraded whenever each new version was released. This is the first time that I have returned the product. One of the features that I use every day is the Cash Flow center in the Planning tab. This has been removed. It is completely incomprehensible to me why they would remove this feature. At a glance, it completely encapsulated my cash flow for the month, both graphically and numerically. Their new "Projected Balances" feature is completely inferior. When I checked out the Quicken forums to find out where it had been hidden, my worst fears were confirmed about its removal. There was discussion about Quicken attempting to simply the product, but I don't understand why they have to remove features for the savvy user. My fear is that this feature is gone for good and I will be stuck with Quicken 2010 until they no longer support it!

Tax Software. I've used TurboTax Deluxe for 12 or more years, and TurboTax Business for two corporations for 4 years, so I know what I'm doing. I can not believe they released this software in this condition. They should be ashamed. When you click on a previous topic area, it goes to a placeholder page that tells them where to put the titles, then freezes. If you try to save your file after transfering from last year's taxes and importing your Quickbooks files, which takes a lot of work to check over, it says, "Error 900! Can not save tax file!" and you have no way to save your work. If there's an autosave, it doesn't work. When I went to Intuit's site to look for a solution, it says this is a known issue and they are working on it! Hello? They've got NO business selling a piece of software that doesn't allow you to save anything in a business tax return! They invite you to send them your email address so they can notify you when they figure out what's wrong with this unfinished software they are selling. A piece of junk that will destroy TurboTax's reputation if they don't move to correct this fast.

Re: Turbotax, I haven't installed the 2010 version yet but I've used Turbotax for years. It can download 1099 information online from most brokerage houses, which saves data entry time for serious investors.
