Tax Software. I've used TurboTax Deluxe for 12 or more years, and TurboTax Business for two corporations for 4 years, so I know what I'm doing. I can not believe they released this software in this condition. They should be ashamed. When you click on a previous topic area, it goes to a placeholder page that tells them where to put the titles, then freezes. If you try to save your file after transfering from last year's taxes and importing your Quickbooks files, which takes a lot of work to check over, it says, "Error 900! Can not save tax file!" and you have no way to save your work. If there's an autosave, it doesn't work. When I went to Intuit's site to look for a solution, it says this is a known issue and they are working on it! Hello? They've got NO business selling a piece of software that doesn't allow you to save anything in a business tax return! They invite you to send them your email address so they can notify you when they figure out what's wrong with this unfinished software they are selling. A piece of junk that will destroy TurboTax's reputation if they don't move to correct this fast.

Re: Turbotax, I haven't installed the 2010 version yet but I've used Turbotax for years. It can download 1099 information online from most brokerage houses, which saves data entry time for serious investors.

If you're like me and you keep your Mac's OS up-to-date you'll have no problems with the software download. I'm running version 10.6.5, my download worked fine.

As for TurboTax, I can't even tell you how many consecutive years I've used this software. It's always made my family's tax season more organized, less stressful, and with e-file -- more secure as well. I expect that this version will continue the tradition.

Tax Software. I've used TurboTax for years and am a very satisfied customer. Last year I ended my automatic product renewal with Intuit and saved money by ordering with Amazon. I downloaded the product onto my Windows XP based computer last year without a problem. I bought TurboTax Premier a week ago when pricetrace.com e-mailed me that the price dropped below $75. The download from Amazon was flawless. The product updates from Intuit also occurred without incident.

Tax Software. First of all, just want to state that as far as I know, Amazon has the best deals on turbotax. I'll definitely be buying it from here.

My review is mainly based on the 2009 version, since I don't have 2010 yet. Turbotax is a great product. In 2008, I paid $250 to a CPA. He wanted $400 last year, so I decided to give Turbotax a try. It was extremely easy, and now I have a better understanding of the tax process, so I regularly can keep an eye out for potential tax deductions during the year. In fact, I actually caught a mistake that my CPA made (which was a pain to fix!).

The thing that I really like about this product is that it really walks you through the process well. Its great for someone like me who was previously confused by the tax process. Also, I LOVE the turbotax community forums - where I learned a lot of valuable information. The cool thing is whenever you are filling out details on a particular topic, the software will suggest certain discussion threads that are relevant to that topic. So in the rare cases where Turbotax can not answer your questions, the community usually can.

I also like the fact that you can enter in the details through the "form" format, which is basically like entering directly into the IRS forms. You can also switch between this, and the user guided mode, so whatever you enter in the forms will be populated in the user guided mode (and vice versa).

Tax Software. I've been using Turbo Tax for 10+ years and once I fell for the old bait-and-switch when I thought the 'Deluxe' version was worth the extra bucks. Wrong. The Basic version does everything most taxpayers need, and does it quite well, even if you have a mortgage and itemize deductions. Don't think you need to upgrade if you have a few complexities to your return or you're not using 1040EZ. That's especially true if you live in a state without state income tax (thank you Texas). Can't speak for rental properties or other complicated examples, but paying extra so someone can tell me what my donated pair of shoes is worth just isn't worth it.

Tax Software. I love Turbo Tax. Each year they use customer feedback to improve the program. I started buying the federal only program a few years ago instead of federal and state in order to save money. The federal version does all the work for me and all I have to do for the state version is get a free 2-page state form from my local library, transfer the numbers to the state form, and mail it in. I skip the extra expense of purchasing the state program and the state e-file charge by doing everything on paper and by mailing it in early February. I got both of my returns within 10 days using e-file for the federal and regular mail for the state. I would highly recommend Turbo Tax Federal only with e-file. I haven't needed the state version so far.

Tax Software. In the 2010 version of TurboTax for Business you cannot transfer data from the prior year and save the file. Program produces an error 900 code and the online response is that there is no known solution. Call to tech support told me this is a known problem and they do not have a fix. They said we either have to wait until they figure out how to fix the program or manually enter all of the prior years' data in the new year. They do not know when or if they can fix the problem.

Tax Software. I downloaded this tonight to get a jump on the tax season. I've used Turbo Tax for many, many years and am happy with the product.

However, this download file does not even extract properly, let alone try to install. Further, there are supposed to be software keys that show up in your Amazon Software Library, but the option to "View Keys" does not exist for this product. I have filed a support complaint with Amazon and will follow up on the resolution of this issue as comments to this review when I have updates.

For now, I'd go by the CD version at brick and mortar store.

Tax Software. I am using Turbotax for several year now, and it makes the otherwise unpleasant task of tax preparation quite easy and accurate. The first time I used it, 4 years ago I still had a large accouning firm do my taxes - for approx. $1000 per year, - out of curiosity I tried doing same return with Turbotax which then said I owed considerably less taxes. It turned out that Turbotax was right, the accountants forgot some deductions. Eversince I use only Turbotax and do my own taxes.

Tax Software. I have been a Turbotax user for quite a while, and have definitely seen a progression in quality and features of the Turbotax product. I remember last year, there were some installation issues for some. Turbotax 2010 downloaded and installed on my Windows 7 64-bit quickly and without issue. After executing the program, it immediately downloaded some updates and I was ready to get to work.

As usual, the State software is included free. This year, the integration with the State software seems even better. While the State download wasn't available yet, it gave me options for notification and what the status of availability was.

Tax Software. The software is about the same as it has been in years' past. And, as in years' past, if you have not strictly set up your Quicken categories the way TurboTax expects to see them, you will experience some incorrect entries when you import from Quicken. Similarly, TurboTax does a pitiful job importing stock option trades from Quicken, primarily using the real Date Acquired info as the Date Sold and then leaving the Date Acquired field blank, so you have to manually go in and change these 2 dates for each of your transactions. Still, it eventually gets the job done and is much easier than trying to fill out paper forms. And I guess I have just become numb to the cutesy "We just saved you $7 in taxes!" gibberish and the plugs to upgrade to a more expensive version every time you have a tax circumstance that would prompt Intuit to want you to upgrade.
